Frequently Asked Questions

We know better than anyone that there is a ton of moving parts involved when it comes to planning an event. Let us take some of the load off your plate!

We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below:

What differentiates Quest AV from other competitors?

  • Our vast team of knowledgeable and friendly staff have established themselves as lead players in the audio-visual industry. With clients across North America we are recognized for our unique approach to event planning and the supporting technological aspects. As such, we have become the in-house and exclusive supplier of audio-visual services in several venues throughout the GTA and for many event planners and organizations.

How far in advance do I have to book my AV services?

  • As soon as possible! Depending on the size of your event, we recommend at least five business days before the event to give us time in case of changes or a site inspection is required.

What are the differences between a wired mic and a wireless mic, why is a wireless mic better?

  • Normal wired microphones are often slow and cumbersome to pass around. In addition, they can quickly kill the flow of discussion.
  • On the other hand, Wireless microphones are easy to handle, can be used to engage your audience and can be used for any type of event be it large or small.

What are stage monitors? Why would I need one?

  • Stage monitors are performer facing monitors used for amplifying the performer’s sounds.

What are advantages of a comfort monitor?

  • When you have comfort monitors, presenters don’t have to turn off the microphone or turn around to look at the screen. The comfort monitor can be used for presentation notes that the audience doesn’t see.

Why is stage lighting important?

  • Stage lighting can manipulate the mood, selective focus, modelling and visibility, making the ambience just right for your event.

Why should clients make time for soundcheck/rehearsal with the people who will be speaking on stage.

  • Soundcheck is as important as your actual performance because firstly it ensures that all microphones and inputs are connected and working correctly. Secondly, to set the levels and tonal balance of instruments and voices, both individually and in combination, so that the performance can begin without further adjustment. If you do your sound check well, you can be confident that you are going to have a great performance.

Does lighting make a difference if it’s a daytime event?

  • Yes, it certainly does. Depending on the venue and variables at play, lighting can make all the difference for your event, regardless if it’s during the day or at night. Connect with us and we can show you.

What is the importance of having background music vs. no music for events?

  • Background music is important for setting up a mood for your event. Depending upon your event type, music can alter the ambience of your event.

How can we stay within budget without sacrificing quality?

  • Budget is always a concern when planning an event. With careful advance preparation and a close working relationship with an audiovisual production team, you can budget dollar wisely for the audio-visual services that makes the most sense.
